Dental Implants
We offer dental implants at our practice in The Colony to help patients replace lost teeth and achieve dependable support for dentures, crowns, and bridges. These small titanium posts are surgically implanted in the jaw to replace tooth roots and provide a foundation for restorations. Dr. Bharathi Reddy works closely with an implant specialist to provide complete care, including in-office surgery, making Main Dentistry a one-stop shop for all your dental implant needs. What Are Implants?
A fully restored dental implant comprises three parts:
Preparing for Implants
Before you undergo dental implant surgery, you will have a consultation with our dentist to establish candidacy. Some patients may require some preparatory work, such as tooth extractions or a bone graft. After any necessary preparatory work has been performed and you have fully healed, we can begin planning the placement of your implants. We use an advanced imaging system to take panoramic images of your smile for an incredibly precise implant placement procedure.
Implant Placement
During surgery, you will receive local anesthesia. You may also benefit from our advanced sedation options, including nitrous oxide, IV sedation, and oral conscious sedation. Once you are comfortable, the oral surgeon will place an implant post in your jawbone through a small incision in your gums. Finally, the gums are stitched closed over the implants to facilitate healing. Over the next three to six months, the implant posts will fuse to the jaw. When this process is complete, you will undergo a second surgery in which an incision is created to expose the implant. The abutment piece is attached, and the gums are sutured closed around the implant, leaving it exposed. Once the gums have healed, we can restore the implant with a crown or denture.
We also offer the All-on-4® implant method, which uses strategically placed implants to support a full denture. These implants can be placed and restored on the same day. Often, if a patient has experienced some degree of jaw bone atrophy, implants can be placed using the All-on-4® method without having to undergo a bone graft. However, not everyone is a candidate for All-on-4® implants. Our dentist can determine if this treatment is right for you.
